Drawing from my experience as a gamification expert, I&#8217;ve witnessed its impact and power, yet felt occasional frustration when ideas remained out of reach, due to technology constraints.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Nevertheless, I firmly believe that the future holds the key to a greater integration of gamification into our daily lives, driving positive change. actions within them. Do action X, get reward Y. But how do we prove that X ever happened? The most common gamification systems that interact with the real world, the well known \u201epoint based loyalty systems\u201c, always have a digital verification. Drive up to the gas station, pay for the fuel and collect reward points. There\u2019s no cheating the system here &#8211; the sale happened 100% guaranteed. But what if I wanted to incentivize something other than a sale? An action that wouldn\u2019t be as easy to verify?<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-46b0274 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"46b0274\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Games<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-34a5206 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"34a5206\" data-element_type=\"widget\" id=\"value-text-2\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div style=\"font-family: 'Montserrat'; font-weight: 400; color: black;\">Imagine I wanted to create a mini game to teach people how to use a gas pump. Besides giving them guidance, there is no way I can give feedback if they\u2019ve chosen the wrong or the right fuel type. It\u2019s all based on good faith. Theres no chip in the car that checks the fuel type, no chip in the gas pump that communicates with my phone and tells me I messed up. If you were to play a roleplaying game &#8211; assume that you\u2019re a mystical wizard &#8211; and you\u2019d cast a lightning spell on an enemy, the game could deliver you all the feedback you could ever wish for. How close you hit to the target, how much damage it dealt, how long it took you to aim my spell, how long it took for the cloud to show up to deliver the lightning. Without getting too bizarre here we can quickly realize that no matter what information the game decides to share with the player, the game knows everything that happened and everything that didn\u2019t happen. It\u2019s omniscient.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc6a8ca elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"bc6a8ca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The virtual world<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f073ad8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f073ad8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" id=\"value-text-2\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div style=\"font-family: 'Montserrat'; font-weight: 400; color: black;\">A true virtual world has full control over data and in turn gains the ability to give us feedback on absolutely everything. Even in a time of ever growing data streams, the real world doesn\u2019t quite come close to offering us that luxury. It\u2019s very difficult to attach rules and game systems to actions you can\u2019t even measure. It\u2019s like playing tennis without a racket or ball, where both parties verbally agree that they\u2019ve hit the ball back and forth. Would you be willing to pay a prize to the winner of this tennis match? As our cities get smarter and our sensors become more sophisticated, gamification will grow to unlock its true potentials with the ever increasing ways to verify our actions. Just keep in mind that it\u2019s only a game if we do it
